Why NJFA Fencing?

Everybody enjoys playing with lightweight flexible swords, and simply put fencing is one of the safest most rewarding sports available. Everybody should at least have an introduction to the modern Olympic sport and the art and science of swordplay. We offer classes for all age groups from 7 to 80. Fencing is for boys and girls. This intro to fencing class emphasizes having lots of fun while learning the basics of the sport. The introductory class prepares you to join the beginning level class if you wish to continue. We play many fun developmental games, do paried drills, and you even get to fence each day! You will learn the basic rules, safety, and manners of the sport, how to advance and retreat, to attack and lunge, to parry and riposte, counter riposte, and to execute feint attacks and actions on the blade. The added benefits of learning to fence are that it develops and maintains both physical and mental fitness, teaches self-discipline, and great sportsmanship skills. It is just a great way for youth, teens, and adults to stay in shape, reduce stress, and have a great social time as well. All rental equipment fees are included in the introductory and beginning levels. The NJFA offers professional experienced coaches who have produced and coached US World Team members, Junior Olympic Champions and National Champions. We look forward to seeing you in our class! Just wear long pants or sweat pants, a t-shirt, and laced up athletic shoes.

NJFA provides complete equipment for beginning fencers, coaching, and a range of opponents for training.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced programs for fencers of all ages are offered year-round.
